Something wrong with my subs?

I was driving home tonight & I turned down my music to listen to what one of my buddies had to say & I heard this really low pitched bass even though my volume was turned down to 0. When I stopped I checked everything making sure that all of the wiring was all in tact, everything was. I'm still hearing this low pitch bass & it's pretty loud, whenever I have my head unit on. I'll even have the music turned down to 0. Everything's brand new in the car including 4 new speakers & a head unit. I'm used to a quite low pitch sound, because that's just the amp putting out some power, but this, like I said, is quite loud. Does anyone have a clue of what's going on?

Thanks, that's what I was thinking of. My subs had moved a little bit when I turned a corner, so the ground could could have possibly tore out somewhat.
