something wierd I ran into today.

My mom had her heater hooked up to this extention cord, but this cord has diff terminals throughout the cord. But for some reason it melted, the wires seemed thick enough, but it was only at the joint. And I noticed with my heater it gets hot at its joints of the extention cord. But I dont understand why its doing this. I got pics of the cord. And its cool that its see through so you see what happened.

it was pulling to much current. those heaters will draw alot. and the cords wires just couldnt take it

well the heater calls for 14 gauge, and the extention cord looks like it was thick enough. But im also thinking that the conection between the plugs caused a great resistance and making it melt. because its always hot right there. And for some reason the cord to the heater was never harmed.

yeah. those heaters do draw a LOT of current.

our cat had kittens in the garage one winter and my mom set up 2 of those heaters and blocked off the cats so they wouldnt get burned..... big mistake. electric bill was insane lol.

should never hook a heater or anything like that up to an extention cord
