something new???

hey guys&girls, new to the site.hopefully i'll be able to learn a litlle. i've been advised to look into doing a d.i.y project. im tired of buying top of the line components and not being satisfied. yes, i sound deaden and i get the system professionaly tuned. it's always something. either the tweeters are too harsh or theres not enough midbass. my current system is cdt es620 comps, dls A3, 3 idq12's(sealed- powered by a dls a6), dqx(sound procesor), and a alpine 9835(head unit).

alright, this is what im looking for. i got a dls A1 that's collecting up dust- i was gonna use it to power a set of id neo comp horns but decided to ditch that project. the reason why is because i dont have time to do all that fiberflass, and baffle building for those idq8 midbass drivers that were gonna be paired up with those horns. so, im looking for a set-up that rules for metal. i want to hear and feel the midbass coming from the front of the car with the subs cut off. im sick of my woofers clipping out on lowend guitar riffs. i want full midbass exstention. i want it to follow through. i dont want the bass to cut out at the last end of the guitar riff. i know i sound like an idiot but i dont want to make the SAME mistakes again. i want to learn all about staging, crossovers, and all that d.i.y. stuff. im all ears. give it to me.

oh, i was looking into purchasing the seas lotus reference comps but was advised to come here first. any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

If you want to go crazy, a 3-way front stage with an 8" sub or something similar is really the only way to go..... it's just damn hard to find a place to put em. Ported kick pods could be a way to go if you have room for a 1/4 cu.ft. enclosure in there....

i was thinking about going active- seas ca 18rnx(midrange woofer) paired up the lpg 25 nfa(tweets).

the problem is i've never gone active before.

Agreed, it's confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it you'll wonder why you ever used passive...
10-4 on that. i want to run the seas ca 18rnx drivers but they look more like home audio drivers. hell if i wanted to go that route i'd just run some celestian midbass drivers from my marshall cabinet. just kidding. if i do go d.i.y. i guess i'll run with a audio control active crossover. i already own a dqx. it has a built in crossover-think i can just use it to go active. any other suggestions?? thanx

What are some flip out head units good for active?
None. Almost literally, I've always wanted one.

The only one available is the Eclipse AVN7000 + the DCU105 add on.

Even at my cost, I don't really consider it. And at retail it's **** near $3k... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

truthfully if your going active then don't buy the seas comp set. your paying too much for the crossovers. get seperate drivers. and who cares if it looks like home equipment. I would go here

http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/

and read some reviews. goto madisound.com or partsexpress and pick out what you want and come back here and see what everybody thinks. if you have a lot to spend personally i would go with

these tweets

these midrange

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8468801.1298&pid=984

both in kicks

and

these

or these

for midbass.

you might need to get one more 2 or 3 channel crossover to go with what you got now.
