Im totally at a loss for what to do next, besides punching his face in!!

Today i found a 42" plasma tv for $25. The owners hardly used it. Not 10 minutes after i get it home..

I layed it flat on its back screen facing up. Clumsy sets his coke on a curved surface next to the tv, as he moves his hand away the coke can falls onto the top if the screen..a friend throws me his sweater to soak it up (big mistake) and it looked like some may have seeped into the top side of the panel trim.

So i flipped the tv over took off the back panel now its laying in the backyard on the ground on a blanket. I dont even know how much IF any soda did leak into the edge of the top side panel because the back side is dry and too many pieces seperate the front side.

you'll need a screwdriver, lint free cloth, qtips, rubbing alcohol. take it apart and clean it. no power till its clean and dry.
I've googled myazz off and people said plasmas are very delicate. Their glass planels along with some other pieces that are too easily prone to damage. Avs forums and the manufactures stress on how to clean the screens without damaging them.

I cant even find any solution online. All the info is about spilling on the top of the tv and or after they had turned the tv on and seen the damage already from the liquid.

mainly i would worry about it seeping into the connections on the edges of the screen. the plastic front cover comes off. the glass screen is glued to a large piece of aluminium under all the circuit boards.

Im assuming my only option is to leave it opened up laying on the ground to take it apart? Theirs a gazillion pieces and screws in this thing.

The thing is that you cant see the effects of the liquid spill until you turn the tv on. I think.

i dont know if id worry to much about it if you dont see any signs of liquid. its a lot easier to check with a flashlight. if you do take it apart just remove as little as possible. the circuit boards, speakers, etc can stay attached. the front cover is held on by the outer screws around the perimeter.

I ve got a dozen or so out back, but its after midnight and im three deep in vodka/sprites. if you wanna mess with it just start removing screws from around the outer edge. theres not really that many parts. just keep up with what goes where and its easy.

Imma use the flashlight and bring it in the house it's too cold outside lol. Im just afraid to set it up on its side. Seems doing that will cause any liquid to runnn down the screen[emoji22]

One help forum post said 3 weeks before turning it on. Oh dam.

On this particular plasma tv it looks like it has a seperate outer glass piece which protects the second glass screen. Because when i set the tv upright to run a thin cardboard lined napkin to clean between the trim and the glass screen, the second part of the screen was swinging freely aparr seperate from the outside glass screen. And it looked totally dry. Only saw one wet spot.

But it looks like it wouldn't do any harm even if it were to get wet inbetween the outside glass and the second glass because it looks sealed... Hard to explain.
