Years ago I had a pos sony head unit stolen out of my 68 Pontiac Tempest, by my friend. He put it in a red gym back, and proceded to walk down my street only to be stopped by the cop whom lives at the end of my street and was busted. That's karma bay-beeeee.

I know this kid's HU got stolen, smart kid, he wrote the serial # down so if there not smart enough to scratch it off he'll know. and then this lady's coach wallet got stolen, nothing in it at all. just the bag it self. I bet that guy was pissed. but needless to say I park around back now. lol

Honestly though, how would that help him? I mean it's not like you have to register equipment when you buy it used...nobody checks that shit. Think about all the times you've bought used equipment, have you EVER bothered to even glance at the serial number? I mean if it was scratched off I'd be suspicious, but if it's intact then I wouldn't think anything of it.

lulz, prints by who? The cops aren't going to give a shit. And I highly doubt any of them even know how to dust for prints. CSI =/= Real life

The idea of the s/n is that you can specifically identify your possessions to the cops.

What kind of legal problems did you have? I would have suspected that FUCK OFF would have been enough for those retards that took the bad checks.

Some of the smaller businesses weren't so helpful. The larger businesses took responsibility right away, but I had to remind some of the smaller ones that it was their fault they accepted a check without proper identification. Copies of the police report had to be sent to all the businesses in order to push it through 'legally' and keep them from filing bad credit history information. All in all, a pretty large hassle, as he'd written so many checks. I was amazed how many businesses took a check without ID. He must have had some line about forgetting his wallet at home.

This was quite a few years ago now, but I still remember the feeling when I called the bank and told them 'I opened an account 3 weeks ago and I still have not received my checks in the mail' to which the woman on the other end said 'youve obviously received them sir, youve been writing checks for a week and a half."

Major FUUUUU moment. Its said that its so easy for business owners to file credit dings.

Yep, very easy. And disputing it is a hassle. Its pretty much a guilty until proven innocent type of system.
