Some Idiot At Audio Express

I went into Audio Express and told some worker there I needed an amp to run two 12 inch pioneer subs. Max wattage Peak 800W and a RMS of 150...

This mothe****er trys to sell me an amp for 800.00 bucks saying the Amp output has to match the peak wattage of the subs...

Now please correct me if Im ****in wrong..

But I thought the idea was to match the AMPS watt supply with the RMS on your sub?!?!

Am I wrong here guys...cause I almost decked this idiot...

and what is 2ohms stereo and 4ohms mono??...

Yeh there should be a knowledge test or something if your going to work in Elec. sales. I know up in Phoenix there are alot of legit shops if your up for a trip. And of course there is always online.

Okay, ohms are a resitance level right?

Basicaly how much the AMP recognizes as resistance..

When you bridge an amp you connect one of the positive and negative terminals with speaker cable and than run the speakers in parallel correct?

Positive speaker terminal, to positive speaker terminal, to positive amp terminal...and same with negative right?!

2ohms stereo = 2 channels with a resistance of 2 ohms...

4ohms mono = 1 channel with a resistance of 4 ohms...

Yes you can run 2 subs on 4ohm mono.

That amp is 150 RMS bridged MONO. I thought EACH sub was rated 150 RMS?

Are the subs SVC or DVC? 4 or 2ohm?

There 150 Each...4ohm

DVC I think...

There the pioneer ones from walmart...800watts...forget the model number.

So that means I need a 300 watt AMP since there both 150RMS?

If they're d4 then you have options:

1) wire each sub in parallel, run them off their own channel and get an amp that does 150 x 2 @ 2 ohms

2) wire the 2 subs together parallel/parallel and get an amp that does 300 x 1 @ 1 ohm

3) wire the 2 subs together in series/parallel and get an amp that does 300 x 1 @ 4 ohm

Doesn't have to be exactly 150 or 300w but you get the idea.

btw, someone want to check what I wrote I had a few at lunch.
