Some Help please

OK I have a JL audio 6 channel amp 4 speakers and 1 JL sub. Everything was hooked up when I bought the car. I was going to sell the car and had to remove everything from the amp. I am not selling car now and want to hook everything back up but don't remember where everything went. I know the everything was running through the amp. I know before I unhooked everything the front right speaker had no sound and when I got a new head unit they said something about being on a loop system ? Any way Im looking for like a diagram on how to hook everything back up mostly the speakers I'm pretty sure I can do the sub. Sorry if this is confusing to any body but im ust trying to save money and get my stereo back working.

Not to be a smart ***, but if you don't know what you are doing, it's best to go to a professional. I doubt it would cost more than 100 bucks to get it all done right. For the most part, the power wire is the longest and your ground is your shortest. Plug the rca jacks back in the amp and run the remote wire from the fuse box, preferably from the radio fuse, if you can get under the fuse box that's better, if not plug it underneath the fuse. I'm pretty sure the speaker wire you can figure out yourself. If you upload pictures of everything I might be able to help you out better.

How about posting your vehicle make/model/year, your speaker make and model and your head-unit make/model?

You probably have a JL XD/600/6 amplifier - yes? If so, the manual is available online and you could start by reading or maybe at least looking at the pictures. Also, how many stereo RCA cables were connected from the head unit to the amp? 1, 2, or 3? (i.e. front, front & rear, or front, rear, and sub). The XD600 can operate with 2ch, 4ch, or 6ch inputs depending on the mode switch.

cool thanks. I forgot to mention amp is running I never disconnected that. Its just the speaker and rca cables that confuse me . ill try to get some pics up
As far as the rca cables go, you just plug them in the back of your head unit and run the wires to the amp. Plugging the rca is like hooking up a dvd player. The only problem with the speaker wire is you might not know which wire is positive and which is negative. Other than that, if all you have to do is hook up rca and speaker wires than you should be golden, no need for a pro on that. Post some pics if you are still having trouble

did you pull the amp only or all the cables too? if you dont have much for tools you can get away with putting a 9v batt to the speaker wires and you will hear a pop. that tells you which speaker that wire is for. if you have a buddy that could look at the speaker the same time you pop it you can tell phasing by that. popping out is in phase inwards is out of phase. just make a note of which wire you have to the pos side of the batt. as for the rca's if they are not labeled you might just have to guess check and revise to get them properly hooked up. you could also continuity check from the back of the head to the other end of the rca's if you have a dmm.

long and short?!?!? really?

I will try to get pics up tomorrow .I do recall other wires besides the 2 pos and neg hooked up to the 2 back speakers like the front speakers were connected to the back ones. Oh and the amp is a jl audio e6450 . Car is 2007 Toyota yaris with kenwood deck not sure which model. I know when I got the deck I got just a basic sony deck but best buy said it wouldn't work with my set up. any ways thanks for the help.

I tried explaining it in terms he would understand. With him asking this question, do you really think he has a multi meter?

I figured they were speaker wire but they were never connected to amp they had electrical tape on them. there was other speaker wire connected to amp from the speaker negative and pos connection. I think the front speakers were connected to back speaker somehow.

When those wires had tape on them, were they connected to anything? If they weren't connected, was the speaker playing? If the answers are no then they are definitely speaker wire. Also, there is a possibility that your rear speaker wires had a short and the person who hooked up the amp connected the back speakers to the same channel as the front speakers. I can only see that happening if the back speaker was playing. Basically, I think your safe to wire those speakers to the amp. The amp won't blow if there is a problem, the speaker might but not the amp.

OK - it looks like the input cables are connected correctly based on the filter settings. Ch1&2 should be your fronts, Ch3&4 should be your rears and Ch5&6 should be bridged to the sub. Ch1/2 and Ch3/4 have HP filter enabled with cut-off of 120Hz, so this makes sense.

I see that the Ch5/6 filter is set to OFF. I would have expected this to be set to LP for your sub. If you are using the LP filter setting on the HU sub out, then you should be OK, but you might want to set the Ch 6/5 Filter mode to "LP" for good measure and set the cut-off freq around 120Hz or a little higher if you are using the HU settings instead.

Can you post a pic of the speaker and power connection terminals of the amp? It will help.

Also, can you get a better focused picture of the terminals on that speaker above?

Also, what kind of speakers do you have in front? In back? Any separate tweeters, or are they all coaxials?
