So I'm going to redesign my the hatch of my golf. I remember reading about AP enclosures on ECA, their benefits and drawbacks and whatnot...

Anyway, I was thinking what if I put my solobaric 10's in ap enclosures. The manual says not designed for vented enclosures. I called kicker and the tech guy said the same thing but I think he was just saying what the manual said becuase when I asked him about APs he kinda stumbled on his words for a second and just repeated 'the speakers aren't designed for vented enclosures so... yeah'.

I know AP aren't normal vented enclosures. Would anyone have any more insight as to if this would be possible, why or why not, and what the expected results would be like (besides lower 20h-30hz and higher 50-60hz levels)

I do have one more question about AP enclosures. Is it okay to funnel the rear of the membrane through pvc, almost like a port? What I'm thinking of, this picture will better illustrate:

I agree with the tech's. The D series woofers really don't have the suspension needed for a ported box, or AP enclosure. They were sheerly designed for a tight, small sealed enclosure.
