The new cone design was improved alot over the older cone

yeah, but isnt the coil still tiny, 2.5 inches. they are great subs and get very loud. but i had 2 of the solo x 12s. and they would not take 2500 watts for every long before smelling. and really all you have to do to the old cones is put a little plastic weld or ca glue on the cone suports and they wont break, at least for daily driving.
