Is this sub strictly SPL? No SQ at all? Does it have to have the full 2500w rms to get moving? I hope to run a single 12 in about 5cft off of 1500w or so. Think it will work?

Why does the brand matter? I havent decided on it thats why I ask, I was just figureing I would put around that to it, Maybe even 2000w.

not all amps put out rated power thats why brand matters, thats like buying a 3kw boss amp and expecting it to do 3kw.

I wouldnt try to put only 1500 rms to it....2500-3000rms would be better for a daily driver IMO

Well thanks for the useful comments guys, I need to see what electrical upgrades I can afford before I look at a sub of this magnitude I think.

Why on earth would you buy a subwoofer that is rated to handle 2,500rms and maybe more and only feed it 1,500? If you want some SQ and plan on giving a subwoofer 1,500rms look into RE's XXX.

And yes its mainly for SPL all though some people say it can be SQL its an SPL sub. Thats why people use them to hit 160dbs and higher. I would put in a sealed box or ported tuned really low for SQ.

having previously owned one, i can really give you an opinion, im guessing most others who replied in this thread havnt had one, but anyway yes, they get moving with 1500 watts. I had mine in a 5 cf box tuned to like 32 hz, it got seriously loud, but yea i would reccomend at least 2000 or more, it bumped a lot more when i had both bp 1200s hooked up to it. here is a video of mine with only one bp 1200 hooked up.

nice vid! Did it still sound pretty good? compareing the sq to an L5 would you say it was about equal?
