Solid or POrted?

either shut up and quit giving advice till you know what the hell you're talking about, or leave.
hahaha well said. moron. if anything a ported will be "harder to drive" because it has to force air out then back in, instead of just pushing against it. and sealed needs more wattage?? your stupid.

no hes right! because a sealed box builds pressure when the sub hits, making it not hit as hard... a ported eliminates alot of that pressure makeing it louder, but handle less power mechanically because it takes less power to drive the sub to its full potential...

see... the thermal power handling of a sub doesn't change... a voice coil can allways take a specific voltage... but the mechanical handling does change, because some enclosures...(ported) allow the sub to reach it's maximum output potential without using it's full power potential.

at the same time the pressure inside a sealed box regulates cone movement.. and sealed boxes don't amplify specific frequencies as "peaky" as a ported does.

for every well built sealed box you can always build a "louder" ported box...

on the contrary... for every well built ported box, you can allways build a better sounding sealed

anyone who understands soundwaves and shit should know this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

your looking at it wrong, a sub makes sound by moving air with the cone... a sealed box only uses half of the subs movement to actually move air outside the box and the rest to pressurize the box... a ported not only uses the positive portion of the cone's movement to produce sound, but also the negative portion through the port... and a ported doesn't build pressure... or at least not much compared to a sealed

Almost right, but not quite. A ported box, believe it or not, can actually create higher pressure than a sealed box. Ever see a sub waning hard at or very near tuning in a ported box? Almost no cone movement. Direct speaker radiated sound waves are at their minimum, but enclosure efficiency is at its maximum, hence less cone motion (due to excessive force inside the 'vented' box) but over all more output.

yeah i've heard that but thats not at all frequencies right?

....Dude, wow......Wheres Squeaks quotes when you need them?
