Soldering voice coil help

I don't know if this has ever been answered or if it's as easy as soldering any wire, but When you solder the tinsel leads to the voice coil is it just like soldering any other wire? And then trim the extra or is there some Special way to solder those two together. Thinking about custom building and this is the only obstacle left I have. Before I figure out if I want to or not.

Depends on if you are getting aluminum or copper voice coils. Both require a slightly different technique and materials. Easiest way to figure it out is to google "Soldering Aluminum" or "Soldering Copper"

no you want to solder them. Solder them to ensure a great connection, trim off the excess, and then i will put a little CA glue over the connection and spray activator as a little extra protection.

Thank you for the help. Just for a little clarification I need to know if the tinsel and the voice coil wire can just be wrapped around each other and soldered them together or is there some special way to feed the vc into the tinsel or somthing I'm unaware of.

Just twist the BC around tinsel them squeeze with pliers to hold tight and soldier both fixmyspeaker.com (psi) and subwoofer parts.com (ultra audio) have soldier and flux for doing aluminum coils.

You'll need to be running a LOT of power before you'll really need to do soldering. I've had fine results with various kinds of crimping or simply just tightly wrapping then securely gluing it down to the cone.

Otherwise if you feel you must solder your answers are already on this thread.
