Also, remember to tin the iron first, keeps it cleaner and makes things a lot easier to work with.

And always, always, always have enough heat for the job. There's nothing more frustrating than trying to solder a huge connector with a 30 watt pencil iron when a 100 watt gun will bring everything up to temperature so much faster.

Nice alot of people dont know how to solder. they just touch the solder to the iron and let it drip on the wire and think they are good to go.

I just got done soldering all my 1/0 gage crimp rings and after crimped and soldered I would use it as a tow rope lol. those ends are not coming off.

For bigger project I recomend a pocket torch.

Did you use a gun for that?

When soldering something whats the average time you have to hold the iron on the joint untill its ready for solder?
depends on the side of the connectors being soldered.

if you're soldering components into a circuit board, then 2 or 3 seconds is all.

if you're soldering a 4ga terminals onto a cable, then 30 seconds might be needed :p

Yea It looks like you held the gun on the solder but im not positive. Just always remeber if you let the copper wire heat up and then melt the solder on the wire you will have 100% of the wire covered in solder and not so much excess. Yea every time I use e-tape I hit myself in the head when summer comes around cuz it always melts doesnt have a very long life. Shrink wrap ftmfw
