soldering irons

kinda funny story. got a soldering iron from harbor freight......the soldering fork, was held on with solder. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

i got a bensomatic it came in it own little case and its butane powered. my last one i had was a lil cheap plug in one and all the tips on it broke so when i went to get new tips i saw this thing and im like hey that's portable hey kick *** ...impulse buying FTW

yeha im keeping the tips clean

when i used the pencil ones i kept them clean and it didnt work so i took my dremmel to the tip to take off a lil top layer and that worked but only lasted for so long

i just got a chicago 180w gun style one from harbor freight (the reason i made this thread) and it worked awesome for the first 2 minutes, tip was glowing red within 20 seconds.

then i clean it and set it down for a minute to get the next thing ready and go to use it again and its just mildly warm it could barely melt the finest solder i have :/

well yeah duh i picked it up and held the trigger.. still 5 minutes later hot enough to hurt but not enough to solder

i know some ppl on here are that tarded though haha

thanks for making sure
