I had 2 12w6's sealed in my ranger extended cab and was never happy with the output. They sounded good but not great. So i'm wondering what 2 10's should i try next. I can do about 3 c.f for both and have a jl 1000/1 amp to power them. I'm looking for more output but still want it to sound good.Any sub and enclosure suggestions would be appreciated. I listen to all music but a lot of rock and want the hard impact bass that still can get low. Price range is about $300-$350 for both or 1 sub that will pound on 1000 rms.

You need 10s that are 12s. You weren't happy with the output of a pair of 12s so you want to downsize? How does that make sense?

What you are looking for is a low-ish tuned ported enclosure. Problem is that you really don't have enough space to build a proper one for a pair of 10s. Going with a single 12 ported is probably your best bet.

Well I thought 2 10's ported may get louder than the 12's sealed. I have plenty of room for the 10's. I can go as big as 4 c.f .This is going in an extended cab ford ranger. What would be a better setup. 1 12 ported or 2 10's ported, and what subs would you guys reccomend

Well not sure why you wouldn't have tried the w6's ported. 4cf is enough for two 12 w6's ported. I think you made a mistake by selling them without trying them in a ported box first. You had good subwoofers

yeah you made a mistake by selling them i have 2 w6 12 and 2 500/1s and they get low and loud but my box is prefab lol go get your w6s back but for subs i hear good things about dd and re yall correct me if im wrong lol

I did try them in a ported box and they were nothing special. I called jl and they designed the box for me.It only sounded good on some music and like total crap on other stuff. I figured if i'm going to give up that much space it should sound awesome, and it didn't. So anyway the jl's are gone. Now back to the original question. Looking for 10" sub suggestion for a 1000/1 amp

DIYCable.com has a sale on the exodus audio shiva. If you get the passive radiator package you get a 12 sub and a passive radiator. A passive radiator works just like a port, but won't take up any space. You wouldn't even need the full 3 cubic feet with that option.. Those subs have very good motors and will have excellent SQ in the right box. Plus if you don't like how it sounds with a given tuning, you can simply add and subtract weight from the passive and change tuning...
