Software equalizer for pc?

Is there an equalizer software i can install to fine-tune the frequencies coming out of my creative soundblaster pci card? As in, no matter what media player or program I am using on my computer, the I want the sound to come out equalized.

As to why I ask this: Logitech built my z-680 speakers with the subwoofer crossed over a bit too high for my tastes, so I'm looking to tone down the frequencies around 125 Hz. If i use the itunes built-in equalizer and turn the 125 Hz slider all the way down, my speakers sound perfect. I wish to have that sound equalization for all programs, such as when I watch a movie in "media player classic". Thanks for any help.

I don't have the soundcard's cd, the pc was given to me without disks. I may consider using winamp as both my ipod synchronizer and my movie-watching program. But winamp does not EQ sounds for all programs, does it? for example, when I play a pc game, what can EQ the sound then?

You are correct, it only effects the songs that winamp is playing.

Maybe creative's website has something for you in the download/support section.

Unfortunately, my card is so old, it's listed under "discontinued" with no support available

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately upon install, the software did not recognize my audio card.

Maybe I'll just tolerate poor sound quality when gaming and switch to winamp for my ipod and movie needs.

OR spend 20-30 and get an audigy2 card off Ebay. Well worth it.

Eh, this computer is a lost cause. Any money invested into it would be better used to save up for a new computer; everything is outdated on this pc. I'm just looking for a free way to make my current computing experience a little bit better. Thanks for the tip though.
