So....

SOHC 427?
Or you are just using hemi to say you are using hemi?

We are using the HEMI because they were fairly strong motors with the racers back in the day, we would like to build a HEMI, and while we were looking around for motors, this one popped up from a Cheif who is on my dad's Staff. And it is a 392 from a '57 Imperial.

too...bad...its...MOPAR

Honestly, we don't care, as long as she goes fast. I dohave a buddy with a blown 408 though and it's absolutely amazing:yumyum:

Sounds sweet.

Cleaning that shit is going to be the biggest *****. How much do you plan on re-using? Finding original, or even replacement hemi parts is kinda pricey.

However, you should bore it out to a 408, and then give it a nice 250 shot, then shit your pants because 700lbs of torque is sitting in your driveway.

We got the block cleaned as well as the heads cleaned (hot tanked and steel blasted) for $70. The guy is pretty cool, said he did a quick flux and didn't see anything serious. Didn't pay for it so I don't mind it being a quickey //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yea, replacement parts may be a PITA, but I think we can do it. PAW has a lot of stuff, and there are a few big hemi guys around here that I talk to.

I did the math the other day and if we get it punched 60 then I think we'll have ourselves a 406. Has a standard bore of 4.000 (same as sbc) so we should be able to find pistons easily.

I would love to give er the bottle, but I'm not sure if it'll be in the cards in the early stages. The blower is pretty big for us, especially being our first drag build. And with a blown 400+ ci motor built how I want it, I think we can surpass 600lb-ft on race gas without the bottle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif.

Got around to posting pics of the cleaned block. We need to paint the exterior and continue to keep the other parts soaked in oil/wd40 to prevent rustola coming back. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The valley is a littel dirty, but I am still pleased. $40 and ~50 years of grime off is fine with me. The cylinders need to be honed to get the rest of the crap that the blast did not. We will save that for a later date. No reason to hone it only if they will be bored later on, ya know?
