Ive been getting some very bad distortion in my CDT's. They are running off of a Nine.2, and my HU is an Eclipse 5444. I have the crossover set at 100hz. When i turn the HU up loud (like 60/80) i get some very bad muddling noises and distortion. On some songs its much worse than others. The amp gain is pretty low. yes, i actually did set it per that, and it still does it. Then i lowered the gain and its still doing it.

This could be a hassle but you could take the CDT's out and hook them up to another HU and see if they still distort. Or you could run them off just the HU to see if they still distort. Otherwise I dont know. That sucks big ones mang.

i just installed my Kamma cdt set today and it did that so i had to ajust the gain by turning it all the way down and turning it a 1/8 of a turn after listein to it. but i set my on 80 out of 80 though and also i adjusted the highpass filter to it was on 100 and no i belive its on 80 also on ur eclipse unit u may have to adjust the bass, mid, and treble to like -1 or something i also have an eclipse cd5425.

60/80. On some songs it doesn't distort at all, yet on others it sounds so horrible its unlistenable. Yes there is loud on, but ive shut it off to see what happens and it does the same thing.

Sounds like the speakers are going lower then they should be.

I changed the HU Crossover just to see what would happen to 200hz and they still distorted.

No, amp bass boost is off, they are 6.5's. Yes im sure, for the Crossover i just selected 100 and the HU automatically sets the LPF below 100 and the HPF above 100.
