a 15" square cone has more cone area than a round 15" sub, therefore, it can be expected to be louder, in theory at least with all else being equal. the cone moves in and out at a certain rate, say 40 cycles per second causing the air to vibrate at that "frequency"....in theory, the square sub with more cone area should project that air movement farther away from the source...ie, louder.
