I'm going to be ulitimatly getting a subwoofer system. (2 eclipse10's, PA amp) I am in a lincoln ls and I'm not sure whether to get a head unit first or if I can wait because right now getting subwoofers is what I really want. Also, if i'm getting a HU I think it would have to be a mtorized tv monitor. whats steps are there?

Jmac, thanks for replying, but I'm not sure speakers are going to be a problem, the stock speakers are pretty good as is, My budget as of now isnt limitless. I am looking at about 900 for my subwoofer setup already. A head unit (monitor) will be about 500 at the least if I get hooked up used. Why do you say speakers firsT? I just dont want to wait a year for subwoofers (what I really desire first) unless its necisary. Thanks Jmac.

1st, i would get a nice head unit.. 2nd, i would upgrade the factory speakers..

then get your subs and amp.. what good is all bass and hardly hearing any lyrics.

you need to upgrade the factory speakers cause they will starts to distort and even blow, once you get your system.. youll start to turn up the volume more and more.. and eventually the factory speakers are going to blow

f u really want bass i 'll suggest go wiht the subwoofer 1st.

1. HU (Alpine's are good, also check out pioneer premiers)

2. Subwoofer absolutely. Bass makes a big big difference.

3. speakers. they will add to a better quality sound. but you won't have much bass. and your stock speakers should do fora couple of months or so.

4. Extra stuff, such as monitor, dvd, ps2, blah blah blah.

they will distort if u play them too loud. i m runnin my factory speakers with a hu, and sub/amp combo. they distort if i play the volume really loud (~3/4 volume). but the thing here is that with the hu, if capable, u don't put much bass into the speakers n send most of ur bass to the sub. (ie: you don't increase BASS for the speakers, leavin it at 0, but increase the subwoofer level).

i've been runnin it like this for quite a while n no problems yet.

alright, I'll try looking at speakers right now, I'm not familiar with them though, what should I expect to pay for a full set of them.

i always start with

hu

front speakers

4channel amp

sub

rear speakers

2channel amp for sub

then go on from there

you don't need to upgrade youre factory speakers. that's why i say get a decent head unit where you can tone down the speakers and crank the subs, then you can keep them for awhile and they should work well. your stock speakers will not blow, unless you play them ignorantly loud.

This whole discussion is really turning my mind on things I thought I had set. AS for subwoofer/s I was thinking 2 10" eclipes's. now i'm think to save money, get 1 12 for like 300, then that tones the whole subwoofer setup down to like 600. AS for speakers what speakers do I need (i have no clue what coaxals are and components are)? And for head unit I'm stuck on a tv cause its big baller and so cool. Well there are some more options.

what are kick panels, and like how many do I buy? So say I have a 6 1/2 inch speaker in the back 2 panels, I just buy better 6 1/2's? Same for the front. Also, in instaling them is it just going to be like cut the stock wires and connect them to the new speakers? THanks.

Anything custom made by a shop around here is probaly going to be like 200 bucks. I can just drop in some asme size speakers for the front, right? so without even knowing how many speakers my car has is that number going to effect how many I end up buying?
