So, today I out grew some of my car audio gear.

I had a HO alt installed today and when the mechanic called me up to tell me it was done he also told me that he had blown the fuse in the upgrade wire that I had provided for him. He told me that he tested the alt before he installed it and at idle it was pushing around 100 amps. He said I probobly would want to replace that fuse with a bigger one. No big deal I thought, but upon further research AGU fuses only go up to 60 amps I believe. I had to scramble and buy an ANL fuse holder with the bigger ANL fuses to get up to a bigger fuse! I can no longer use any of my AGU fuse holders!! I never thought that I would be running enough juice to warrant anything bigger than the AGU's, I guess I was wrong! yeah, i had a bunch of 100 amp agu's.

hell yea, those are huge. I've got a 300A ANL on my 1/0 cable, and 150's in the distro block.

OK, something just occoured to me. Are all of you guys using 300 amp fuses on your HO alts? If so, what are you running to your amps?

Your saying your not using a 300A ANL fuse on your set-up? Should be used for the big 3, distro blocks if you have 2 amps, and battery to battery connections. They are chunky little *****es

That's right along the lines of what I was thinking. And if you do need 300 amps for your amps, is there even an alt that pushes 300 amps? And, what gauge wire are you guys using for the upgrade wire between the alt and batt? If it's only 4 gauge you guys are seriously over fusing that wire (I would assume).

because as stated in the manual the jl 1000/1 need at least a 100 amp fuse.
