So, the glue's drying...

On the front of the box. I'm bored. I only have 2 36" bar clamps so I'm having to go peice by peice and wait 30 minutes using Tite Bond 3. So far I managed to cut one of my slot ports at a slight angle, leaving me a 1/4" gap....the sander took most of that out.

Oh, and Harbor Freight FTW. I got a raincheck on 4 36" clamps for $5.49/each. Regular price @ HD or Lowe's is $18+. I spend $32 at HF, and managed to save $47. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also managed to borrow an air nailer....that thing ROCKS. 10x easier than pre-drilling and screwing. If only I had more bar clamps, I'd be done.

Hopefully I'll be entertained here while between sessions of glue drying.

Oh, I'm building this:

Hopefully I'll be able to tune it a tad more to get some more out of the 30hz region, but overall it should be alright.

once you stick the enclosure in the vehicle. cabin gain will take care of the low end as far as boosting the low freqs goes. how much of a boost and what freqs will be covered, it depends on the size of cab. but its safe to say that there will be an increase unless its a real small sub in a really big suv. good luck with the build, hope you can get some pics up.

it'll also boost the peak and sound like crap......

how much of a boost and the freqs that will be boosted are vehicle cab size Dependant. so cant say if it will even boost as high as the peak frequency or not . or if it will sound like crap, but i don't see why it would sound like crap.

last time I checked, most vehicles peak the most somewhere between 40 and 60Hz... that, being the frequency that people would play at an SPL competition... now, if you have a "musical" box, thats peaking like 4dBs at 46Hz, then chuck another 5dB peak for the cars resonant frequency at about the same frequency...... what do you think is going to happen?

Just finished it up. took a long time because I don't have a dang compass and had to cut the subwoofer circle a little at a time. Used a 1 gallon bucket to get me within 1", but it took an hour after that. Stupid jig-saw blade broke and had to go to wal-mat to get another.

It doesn't sound too great right now, but I'm hoping that has more to do with the glue drying. Maybe after everything settles it'll be better. I need to carpet it too, so that should help some as well. Having such a big subwoofer in a small space sucks. Anyway, I'm hoping it works out well. Hate to have wasted a whole day for nothing.

Oh, and htf do people build a box in 2 hours? Seriously. From a 4x8' sheet to putting it into the car the process took me about 7 hours. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

why didn't you go and buy a compass, and take 10 minutes to cut the hole?
Man, I wish I had a good response for that. It was one of those things where I was "I got this", and that phrase lasted for an hour. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

building over and over, you get a process.

my last box (L7 15) took 2:10 from sheet to carpeted box, and I dont have a table saw.

I guess. Yea, I used a circle saw. Pretty happy with how precise I got the cuts. There were 2 that were off a tad, but nothing the sander couldn't fix.

Oh, also, there's a program called Real Cut 2d. You can use a 14-day trial version. Enter in the sheet size, and your cuts needed, and it spits out a diagram with how to cut it optimally. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Worked great for me.
