Im going to get some, or something like it, and I have a pretty good idea that its for keeping a lot of the sound in the vehicle. But I could be wrong cause I havent been in the whole car audio scene long, so I have never delt with any sound deadener.

it sticks to the metal, thereby stiffening the metal, metal on its own is flimsy, the weight of dynamat makes it unflimsy and hence deadens sound
