So stressed out. 1 dead.

he himself (post starter) put noones family in danger, the kid who DROVE put people in danger
exactly, which is why I am saying the 21 year old who drove will be the only one getting in trouble. I was just mentioning, for myself, and a lot of people, I would still feel a little bit of self-guilt over the situation.... Like obviously the post starter is not a criminal and should not be in trouble over this is my point, just hope he learned a lesson, because he could have done things differently.

Sad story,Utimately, you could be held responsible. The same rules apply to bars for those of you/us who are old enough to get in one. If a drunk driver kills someone after leaving a bar intoxicated, that bar could be liable and face losing a liquor license or other reprocussions.

You're friend should pay for his actions, and you may be held somewhat accountable, and maybe even the cops that didnt seize the alcohol. This is the beggining of a big ball of trouble.

yes, a bar could be responsible, but they dont lock their doors and not let anyone out. this dude locked a gate to his place and the kid ran through it. prevention had action taken towards it, just not enough for a 4000 lbs truck.

i would fell bad for the family that was seperated, but id beat the shit outta the kid who drove. no sorrow towards him, hes a dumbass. im 18, if i ever get plastered at someones house and everyone is staying with no room to sleep, i will get my MOTHER to bring the suburban and pile as many people legally as possible. she knows we wont drive drunk, but would rather know me and my buddies are safe. she has picked people up that are from 16 years old to 23 years old. its not hard to find a phone at a party.

So we threw a party saturday night. (made up of mostly 16-18 year olds) and the kegs were bought by myself and another guy. Im 17 i just put the deposit on my credit card, he paid for em. anyways cops showed up at the party, noone got tickets but they said noone leaves and to lock the gate to the driveway so noone can drive out. So that was fine, no drunk driving, no MIPs. I wake up the next moring to find that the guy that i bought the kegs with wrecked his car and killed someone. He is now being charged with intoxication manslaughter and killed an innocent person.
now im worried about a) that i could be responsible because the kegs were partially mine. and b) im just freaking out cause ive never had to deal with this in my partying 'career' i guess you could say. I just felt thati needed to vent somewhere. and also im wondering what kind of legal trouble i could get into if any.

They can come after you for putting the deposit down, BUT, you are only 17 and should not have been able to do so. You should be fine. Worst you would get is community service or a small fine.

He held the party at HIS house. He had alot to do with the death. Yes the drunk driver killed the guy but in a way The thread starter had something to do with the man's death.

man.... sorry to hear.... actually yesterday a freind of mine was taken off of lifesupport after bein hit by a girl 2 days ago. He was ejected from his truck, and hit by a van. He wasnt wearing his seatbelt, but still, the accident wasnt his fault... he was rear ended in a left hand turn lane in the middle of the day. I swear i wanted to kill that dumb *****. I hope she serves a long time in jail. People like her are the reason guys like me (18 year old white guy) have such high insurance. Cuz her rich *** parents buy a retarded *** chick a big vehicle, and she doesnt pay attention and kills a guy.

Nah, the party wasnt at his house, it was at another persons house.

Sorry to hear, what are they going to do about the girl now?

Nice work, ****. How's it feel to be partially responsible for the death of a man with a wife that was 2 months pregnant? Too bad you're dumbass friend didn't die.

i'd like to know how the **** he is responsible for his dumbass friends mistake.

even if it WAS at his house, he didnt MAKE th kid run through a gate or get totally wasted beyond belief. i would have NO sympathy for the kid and i wouldnt think it was MY fault for a second. i'd feel like complete shit, knowing that because some dumbass that i know drank a little too much he killed somone, but its not my fault, its all on him. i would all the sorrow and condolences for the other family for sure. but if someone that was driving hit a friend and killed him, i wouldnt go after the kid just wanting to have a good time, id go after the kid that A) drove drunk B) ran over a ****ing gate to leave C) was too ***** to face an officer face to face drunk or not.

I talked to my Criminal Justice professor and he said that you might be held accountable to an extent, but most of the blame should be on the drunk driver. At least in IL. Texas may have different laws. The people that sold him the kegs with your credit card could also get in trouble...

Probably not that much help, but I said I'd ask.

Good luck man.

Did the driver provide the keg? If anything comes of your involvement, it's likely he could just be in more trouble.

Contributing to the delinquency of a minor; (buyin' booze)

Endangering a minor; (bein' that drunk w/ minors)

etc.

I personally dont think you will be involved much if at all. I mean you had the cops there before all this happened and they told you to lock the gates and what not. So if he went against the good judgement of you and what the cops said then he will be held responsiable for his actions and what happend that night.

I just hope you have learned your lesson, that if there is beer there, dont buy it, wait till someone else does, then it wouldnt be so bad. Well at least I dont think you feel as guilty.

Sorry to hear about. Sad night indeed. I will say the 21 year old deserves what he gets.
