I understand that there is technical SQ as far as measured response goes, but what the hell does that matter if in the end it doesn't sound good to the one listening to it?

I definitely agree with you too man. SQ can definitely be judged based on the technical aspect of sound, but the judging is at the mercy of the discretion of to whom is doing the listening. Most can tell what a "good" sounding system is vs. a "bad" one, but to what extent is dependent on the audial preferences of the listener.
