On August 24th, I sent the buyer an amplifier I knew to be in perfect working condition, I even tested it before sending it to the buyer.
Yet, on September 20th, 26 days after I had sent the amplifier, he files a dispute saying the item is not as described. He had NOT consulted me about the problem personally, and went immediately to PayPal.
I find this shady, as this was only 4 days before the last day he could file a dispute, and also because he DID NOT CONTACT ME PRIOR TO FILING THE DISPUTE.
This week, I receive the amp and finally come home from college and it's here. I find this:

Regardless of the amp being broken or not, HE SHIPPED IT IN SHITTY PACKAGING WITH NO PADDING AND DESTROYED THE ITEM. He could have at least sent it back IN THE SAME PACKAGE I SENT IT IN, which was insulated and padded well, and would have protected it. But he didn't, as if he had intentions to break it.
The amplifier was in perfect shape cosmetically when I sent it, and now TWO of the mounting feet are broken off of the amp, basically rendering it useless. You can plainly see this in the pictures.
So next, I open up the bottom panel of the amplifier:

revealing the board and circuitry. It has a burnt smell, and is blown from when he had it.
There was nothing mechanically wrong with it before I sent it, I tested it on my speakers. And now, when it comes to electronics, it is impossible for the amp to blow unless it is connected to a power source. What does that mean? It couldn't have been damaged in shipping, and since it was working when I had it, IT MEANS HE MUST HAVE BROKEN IT. Remember, HE HAD THE AMP FOR AT LEAST 20 DAYS BEFORE FILING THE DISPUTE. He could have blown it in that time.
The buyer damaged the item cosmetically, and DESTROYED it mechanically, and then filed a dispute, because HE STILL HAD 4 DAYS REMAINING TO FILE THE DISPUTE AND POSSIBLY GET HIS MONEY BACK. And sure enough, PayPal favored his case, so now I'm supposed to refund his money.
I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT refund that man's money. He is scamming me out of money that was rightfully mine. It is not my fault he damaged the item I sent him.
eBay and PayPal are offering me, the seller, NO PROTECTION when selling goods, and that is absolutely ridiculous.
If PayPal does not review this case, I will never use PayPal or
eBay ever again, tell everyone I know about how PayPal screwed me, and post this story on CarAudio.com, a website viewed by thousands of people everyday, who use PayPal to buy and sell car audio items, such as amplifiers, every day.
I'm a poor college student who sold this item to make money to partially pay for my books for school. I don't have any money to spend right now, and ESPECIALLY give to this SCAMMER.
