So its all in and sounds great but SPEAKER POP!!!

I got my amp installed everything works great. Deafening sound and crystal clear deep, wide soundstage. BUT WHEN THE SYSTEM BOOTS UP I GET SPEAKER POP/THUMP.

RF R300x4, running off the RCA outs of my HU.

My guess is the thump is the pop of electricity in the turn on wire which runs off the amp turn on line in the HU.

What should I do??

I'll probably do that. But I just went to the store to get screws to reattach the HU, because I lost 2 of the 4. When I put one screw in, I got a pop when I put the socket wrench on the screw.

Advent OTOCAM3 (for Toyota). I dont want to big three unless necessary. I found a review for a delay on sonicelectronix where the guy said he had the same problem with this HU. The switch fixed it.

I did have an exposed wire behind the HU, which probably caused the pop when i was using the wrench (fixed now).

My ground should be good, I think, its on shiny metal and has no wiggle.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Thanks. After seeing the answers that said get a relay, I saw the review from someone with the same problem. A relay seemed a bit complicated. I saw posts saying remove the turn on wire, turn on the car and the put the turn on wire back in, if theres no sound wen it comes on you need a relay.

So I went to Pep Boys and got a simple black on/off switch. And tested it in between the turn on feed and a scrap wire--no pop. It took a few minutes to wire it into the dash, but it works now. I just hit the switch to turn the amp on after starting the car. The switch fits perfectly into a factory punch out next to the on/off button for the traction control.

I was afraid the amp was bad because its supposed to have "mute turn on" but its silent when i switch it on after startup.

Thanks all. Problem solved after seeing the answer saying get a relay.

the amp is a pos. nearly all have have a delayed turn-on circuit.

Its the HU Advent is just Audiovox in a nicer package. Its sending the turn on before the HU boots up. Then when the screen comes on it would pop. The amp actually does delay a second. When i put the remote line in it lights up red for a second, then goes to blue and the sound comes on. No pop like that no matter how loud. Its the HU. Its nice, but the whole reason I had to amp it was a flattened out soundstage and tinnyness in some highs. It also seemed like it deleted some of the mids and zeroed in on vocals in most music. But whistling as loud as vocals would get lost. If that makes sense. Sounds how it should now. If the amp is a problem--everything else is in place now. I can just pop it out and put a different one in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif
