Salad is not nutritious, it is what you put on it. ie: carrots, celery, tomato's, nuts, chicken, etc. The dressing is usually very unhealthy for you. Try to make some homemade ranch dressing at least that way you know whats in it.
Steamed vegetables are always a good way to go, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, squash, and you can always cook some asparagus in some water.
Pick a main menu of something like chicken, tri-tip, rib eye steak, fish, or pork. You don't have to eat them bland you could incorporate them with other items to eat. For the most part I just eat them bbq'd or baked. A good thing sometimes would be chicken salad, steak salad, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken.
Just prepare what you want to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner before you go to the store and don't buy a bunch of junk food. Even though it is incredibly hard to resist.
If you are looking for snack food try some beef jerky, a nut mix with cashews, almonds, raisins, cranberries. some fresh fruit is always good. Try just experimenting with different foods.
