So I have a question about a big box in a little trunk..

My box is 3.5^3 and my trunk is small. i had to cut the metal holding the rear seats in to get the box in the trunk. now before i put the back seat in i need to know something

should i face the sub/port firing into the cabin or face it firing the trunk.

theirs very little room on the sides and top of the box that im afraid the bass wont be able to reach into the cabin and it sound like ***.

test it. face it both ways, dont attach the seat, but use it and block off the trunk best u can. put something on the seat, pushing it against the trunk to help keep it in place and seal it off.

i dont own a car, and never have, but from what i have read, its always better to face it back towards the trunk entrance/lid.

the only way it is better to not, is if the box seals off the trunk so that u can face it forward, and all the sound waves go forward, and not 1 goes back.

it really depends on the length of your car, the way you're playing your music, what your goals are, the placement of the subs, etc. Testing is the easiest way to find out.

Generally, facing it backwards makes your car act as though it's longer. The longer your car is, the lower the natural frequency of your car is.

Do you have a bass equalizer? Not as in a single band for "bass" on your stereo, but something like an Epicenter or good equalizer that gives you a few channels for bass EQ? If so, and if you don't plan on trying to get the max power out of your setup I'd say forward since you won't get as much trunk rattle.

I have found that i enjoy most setups in the trunk to be sealed off facing the cabin. I read that it raises the (for lack of better words) peak frequency, but all setups i have sealed off have been loud and gotten plenty low.

Ditch the rear speakers and face the subs towards your back if you want to be loud. And unless you really need you back seat just leave it out all together. then use the seat pan to mount you amp to.
