So, I found out why my music was cutting out (pic)

how big was the fuse?
It was a 120A MIDI fuse, as seen here in this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/KnuKonceptz-Complete-4-Gauge-Amp-Kit-w-120A-MIDI-FUSE_W0QQitemZ320217822843QQihZ011QQcategoryZ71528QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

So, I guess I just need to get a better type of fuse holder to replace this with.

The fuse that disentigrated was a 120A MIDI fuse.....is there a better one that I should consider replacing it with? Or is it just that Knukoncepts fuse block style of housing that I should steer away from?

Is 120A good enough, or should I consider one with more capacity? My amp generates about 750w RMS total.

You have to look at the whole picture - excessive current would have caused the cable to get extremely hot and damaged items elsewhere, not at one point. Excessive heat is caused be extreme resistance at that one point. Resistance creates heat, too much and you get fire. What causes resistance - a loose connection. Something vibrated loose in your holder and created the arcing that would then lead to excessive heat.

The holder is basic, two metal connections, nothing that would cause excessive resistance on its own.

Excess resistance and/or arc'ing is what it would take to cause that much heat.
Too much current would simply have blown the fuse guys...
Loose connection, or arc'ing somehow. Somebody asked if it shorted out against the hood, that would make sense if it did it on the up-stream side of the fuse itself.
Again, a simple situation of too much current passing thru would have melted the fuse element, not the entire fuse holder itself. Something else happened...
ding ding ding why is noone listening to this man....

arcing could have been caused by a loose connection between fuse and contacts allowing some play in the fuse thus creating the arc and the heat to cause this
