So does this sound right?

Profile AP1040 from millionbuy would work and is pretty inexpensive. You will still probably need to have the gain for the rear turned down as speakers bouncing off the rear glass can get loud and over power your front comps.

Once you get an amp you'll get the sound you're looking for....

now do you guys suggest i get the 4 channel or the 2 channel? Also, my stock head unit (toyota corolla) will be able to handle the amp and have the necessary outlets for it, etc. right?

I am a huge newbie to this stuff

You can get a 2-channel, and run the rears off HU power.

The Profile AP1000 for $86 would be a good, inexpensive 2-channel amp:

Also, your stock HU almost certainly does not have low-level outputs, only speaker-level. Most amps (including the one above) have high-level as well as low-level inputs, so you can just wire the front speaker outputs from your HU to the amp. Eventually you'll want to upgrade your HU, since using speaker-level to the amps doesn't give as good of sound quality as low-level inputs.

thanks again to everyone for their help.

Since a 4 channel profile is just 5 bucks more, shouldn't I just go ahead and get the 4 channel or will this make the back speakers way to overpowering?

Since the difference in price is so tiny, and this looks to be the best price my plan is to go with this profile from millionbuy, just want to see if i should go 2 channel or 4 channel

True, the AP1040 is almost the same price, but the 4-channel has less power per channel than the 2-channel.

The other reason I was thinking 2- instead of 4-channel, is because your rear speakers are a lot more efficient than the fronts, meaning they'll be louder with the same power. Now, you want your fronts to be louder. So you could use a 2-channel with the fronts, and run the rears off HU, or get a 4-channel, and turn the gains way down on the rears. Seems like a 2-channel is a better use of amplifier power to me.

As of right now I wouldn't worry about amping the rears. To get the sound your looking for. Your not looking for any hard bass or anything really, it sounds like to me your looking for some clarity, good sounding speakers.

Like mentioned above. Start out with the following:

The wire kit mentioned above

2 ch. amp for the front stage

Head unit when you get cash in

Tell your buddy you want the amp to run to the front speakers, and you want your stereo to power your back speakers.
