so am I the only one to put a ported mj-18 in the trunk of a car?

**IMO*** just looks kinda WACK ! lol.. I did the same thing with my MOFO 12 and Hifonics Brutus 1500D. It hit hard as hell, but the RYAN on this forum had a slotted vent for his same mofo , and was hitting better numbers. yet I fiberglassed the inside of my box, the cyclinder ports, calced the subwoofers displacement into the net volume everything I could think before I built it. I thought it was the shit at the time, but since then I built nothing but slotted and like it more. Looks alot better to people who dont know much about car audio.
I love slot port to but I had to do it like that the sub is on a 48

O and it's alllll in the installlllllllll

Im going to do twoMJ-18's in the back of a van . Whose gonig to be louder now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Dunno why.. I love your MJ-18 jerimiah, but **** your box looks Wack !

I hate to say it, but I wouldnt have done two ports.. why not an infinite baffle ?

I think your problably losing alot of that 18's potential. Even if you put some power on it, I dont think you gave it enough room to work within your cars body.

But then again... its the trunk of a CAR !!!! and an 18 !!! .. I dunno.. just seems like its wanting that big big box to sound off in.

Im going to do almost 20cubes in my van for the pair . Then Im gonna "MAKEM SAAAYYY UGHHHH mine hits harder NAHHH nah NAAAAA ".

edit:

What I mean by that is.. most of the sound coming from your Mj18 is problably heard very very loud outside of your car, but for you inside the car its problably not what you think you were getting. I bet when you put some real power on it, your prolly going to have people tell you they can hear you blocks away, but while inside the car you problably feel like its not loud enough.

I dunno.. I guess if I had the Camry I had my mofo in, I wouldnt have done an 18" sub since you could get louder with a smaller sub and bigger box.

The last time I heard an 18" subwoofer crammed into the smallest possible ported box that could fit it in. It was loud outside the vehicle, but my brother in law didnt like how it didnt move anything inside the car.. It was just loud, but nothing was moving ! It was a JL 18" subwoofer if I remember correctly. he still has it , but he went to an SUV and it came alive since we built a larger box to suite it.

I have already begun plans for the box to support two MJ-18's. And I said almost 20 cubes .. I didnt say 20!

look at : EBS: 250 litres (8.8 cu. ft.) 18Hz tuning

ok so 19.6 cubies .. just shy of 20 ! remember 2 MJ's not one ! for those who were going to quote my post lol.

It depends on what 80"s can come up for me. I may have him do box plans for me if he would take 20$ in the mail just to give me the cuts and plans. Otherwise Im going to build it for an EBS setup @ 18hz.

Id personally do more cubes for the MJ18. After all its an 18. And 2 4" ports doesn't seem like enough port area. I really think you would be surprised at the difference with a properly sized box and a decent amount of port area.
Dode I know what a good box would do for that mj-18 but I cant do it in this car

but I did what I cam to do

1 I got a 18" sub like iv wonted for a long time

2 I put a 18" sub in the trunk of a car

3 I was the first to put a mj-18 in a ported box in the trunk of a car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

so I did what I cam to do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/graduate.gif.d982460be9f153bb54e5d4cb744f6ae8.gif

so my maw-12 in a 2cu.ft@32hz box was the same way in my civic

but my my bros ford ranger it was loud in side and not out side (same box)

I seriously doubt your very first in the whole world //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think Mikey has you beat with a 18"BL in his trunk at 6 cubes

Im not attacking you so dont get all defensive and shit. Im just putting in my opinion and Im still trying to figure out why your all happy that you are the first to put a MJ18 in the trunk. Im just glad not everyones like you other wise we would have people going ZOMG FIRST PERSON EVER TO PUT A FI BTL TUNED TO 32HZ IN THE TRUNK OF A FORD PROBE. Noone cares. Congrats on the install and Im sure it sounds nice.
I know it was just a FYI...

im happy that my sound system is not like the guy how has two 12" w3's

or the guy with two10" CVR's or BTL's
