I read thru a few east european car audio forums from time to time, and I came across this picture that was posted concerning some amps recently purchased and dissasembled. All the facts were kinda sketchy from what I read, but the pic says it all I think.

Caps, from inside an amplifier.

They are small capacitance units, INSIDE the casing of larger capacitance units...

cheap *** capacitor within the shell of a cap that costs 4x as much. Not only is it sneaky, but you're paying for supposed "high quality parts" but actually getting shit inside.

I'll try to find out more, but of course no one wants to release what amp they came out of. But it was from car audio, apparently a large manufacturer.

sure they are saving money on buying cheap caps. but are they saving money in the long run by the time u strip the shell off one cap and make another one fit? i think it would take some time to do that and make it look right.

large caps like that can get pricey when you're buying them individually, much less in bulk like amp makers do. Hell for one of those 6800mf caps, they're $15 each here in the states. In that pic, it has a 4 cent part inside.
