Smelling Voice Coils

I had an L7 at one point in time and it smelled terrible all of a sudden but I was not overpowering it and it never smelled again and worked fine from there on out. I think that it is something that you should look into especially if you are pushing it hard for long periods of time going over the RMS.

As was said, it can be a sign of impending failure if you keep pushing the driver hard, and sometimes it is just excess glue burning off.

I'd generally advise easing up if you smell coil.

lol not to long after i smelled my coils on my kicker L5 one of em burned out. but that was because i was overpowering it to see just how much power it could take
