Small Boxes tuned low vs Large boxes!

In my experiences bigger is almost always better to point. Example Ive had a pair of hAvocs with the same amp in 5 cubes 10 cubes and 14 cubes all tuned to 32 hz and the 14cuft box was by far the loudest and lowest. Really I say go as big as you can without bottoming out your subs with the power you have. If you got 20 cubes for those SXs do it.

My rule of thumb:

*Smaller boxes tend to work better for the meter

*Bigger boxes tend to sound better with music

I've always been curious why soundsplinter recommends such a small box, 5ft at 27hz, for their rlp-18's. That seems small to me, but will the small box help the upper end of the woofer more even though its tuned low?

hint frequency response in a ported box is affected MUCH MUCH more by the box size then the tuning frequency.

In the SPL world it is, but you don't see it that way

I'm still confused as how you don't find high levels of sound pressure interesting (frequency set aside), but I do agree that spl competitions with frequency restrictions would be pretty sweet
