Small box Kicker vs Kenwood...

Yea, I'm looking at around .7ft^3 sealed (per chamber, so 1.4ft^3 total) and I want to get two 12" shallow woofers. I've always liked Kicker and never really used anything Kenwood, but I've noticed the Kicker CVT calls for a 1ft^3 minimum box and the Kenwood calls for .8ft^3 box. Obviously, the Kenwood is much closer to my box size, but the Kicker should (according to the ratings) take slightly more power, but has a lower sensitivity.

In short, I just want to know what you guys would do.

Kenwood = $199 (for both, not one)

Kicker = $178 (for both, not one)

So price isn't much of a difference here.

Kenwood's subs from their "regular" lineup and not any of the eXcelon gear, judging by the few sets I have heard, leaves much to be desired in the way of performance.

I have a pair of older eXcelon 10s that call for that small of an enclosure and to me they sound pretty good (for $99/pair shipped I couldn't complain, really) but for your case I'd have to suggest going with the Kickers choosing between the two options you've posted.

12" Kicker CVTs = $89 a piece

12" Kenwood Excelon = $99 a piece

Both are basically half the price at Crutchfield (MSRP). The only thing I've read about the Kenwood's is someone saying they saw them at CES and they thought they were very promising, but as you can imagine, that's not exactly a good review to base a purchase off of. I've never heard either of these speakers, so I can't really judge it that way, and I don't know anyone that has either (mainly because they're new, but also because the market for shallow speakers hasn't really took off yet).

I wish I could get someone that has used the Kenwood so I'd at least know some details about them other than "they look promising" lol. I'm _almost_ tempted to just get one of each, but I just don't have the funds/time right now to do such a thing by myself.

Realistically, though - they do sound pretty good in the manufacturer-spec sealed box on adequate power.

Do they sound as good as my Diamond M6mkII12 ported on 750w+?

No.

Do they sound worth what I paid for them?

Absolutely.

give any thought to the pioneer shallow subs??? i've heard great things about them... but that is all second hand of course.
