****** slips in 3rd gear??

Car is a 93 mazda 626 that i am looking at buying. that only problem is that the ****** slips in 3rd gear. . How much would it be to fix(about) and how long can i go with out fixing it? Dont buy a problem car for your first car.

Transmissions are not cheap to get fixed.

The car is cheap . Most likely for that reason. I was hoping to be able to just stay under 3rd gear locally. Speed Limits are under 30 in town. and get fixed in a week. I was going to call our mechanic and ask him about the price.

u cant really avoid 3rd gear 2nd to 4th is a jump could stall. Id avoid the car if it already needs work and you dont own it. And are you sure you want stick for your first car?

It is an automatic. car is 500 i will be fine putting 350 or more into it

It has about 140k on it. new paint job. was in a small accident.( front headlight smashed) need new brake lines soon.

Do NOT buy the mazda, my sister had a camry that went over 300k ... as reliable as a Honda!
