Slight Wood Split

Ok I was putting my port piece in and when I was screwing it in with a 1.25" screw with a predrilled hole somehow it put a nice lil split into the edge.. it's not big at all but I'm wondering what you guys might suggest.

And nobody better say start from scratch - im not going to be upset with a 95% quality box build on my first attempt as it's coming out nice right now.

lol.. but really, resin the inside of the box where the wood split to make sure its sturdy and air tight...

well its hard to say without seeing it. can you fill it with wood glue and clamp it overnight? that would make it solid again.

if its on the inside end of the port its not going to make a difference.

if its on the outside edge of the box id fill it, or resin it, or something.

i squirted some glue in the part that i cracked and clamped it, works fine, i wish there was a way to elminate that shit though, its gay, i predrilled and countersunk all the holes but a few still cracked the board

Pull the screw and push glue into the crack/split, do this a few times and while the glue is wet after covering this area once or twice take some sawdust and rub it in. You can also do the same thing with the screw hole.

Predrilling only reduces splits and to help reduce them even more, don't put screws in unless they're about 4-5" away from the edge of the board. Also keep as few screws as possible per panel.
