slight static

i have slight static coming from all speakers when i'm not playing any mus. it must start at the head unit because speakers running off the head unit's amp and the amp i have in my trunk both have static. anyone troubleshoot? i've ruled out rca's already

Must be a ground loop. So let me get this straight, Your running the speakers off the head units amp? And you got amps in the trunk producing static? Less static in your question may carify things up. Is the amp to your subs in the trunk, and your getting static from your subs too? You running off a factory head unit?

aftermarket head unit pioneer

amp powering two components in the doors up fron

amp powering sub

back deck speakers run off head unit

same static in everything

not responsive to press of accelerator so it's not engine whine

Hmm maybe its the head unit. If you can, try a different one. If thats not the case, Find a good ground point, use a dmm to determine the resistance, which should be less than .1ohm. Sand the ground point and run both amps to that point. If possible run the headunits ground to that same point or to the batteries ground point. Less ground loops are is your friend

ok problems been somewhat solved. I had the tuner on a station with total static for some reason. I changed the station and moved the antenna wire away from the harness and rca's. now i only get the smallest amount static when turning the volume 45+ out of 60 not that i ever turn my head unit up that high other than setting gains
