SLC's tweeters blew out, so what tweets to get?

Rainbow tweeter are the same as seas lotus right? just go get you some of those tweets
Where do you people get ideas like that? No, Rainbow is Rainbow. They are not made with off the shelf parts. The only thing I see being close in build is Arc Audio, which IIRC is Rainbow's sister company.

Anyhoo, I have no idea why someone's tweeters would go out like that. I've had my SLCs since before they became popular (kinda..), and the only real problem with the tweeters is that the logo piece fell off one. That's more a matter of glue than anything.

acsendant told me they were connected some way i forget dosent shuffle any emotions out of me 1 way or the other long as it dosent completely stop working

lik ethis guys did

Well, any 4 ohm tweeter that likes a 2.5khz 2nd order high pass crossover will work with the SLCs, so the seas lotus would be a nice match. I'm just saying that they are not Rainbow.

Nope! While the numbers can give you an idea of how loud a sub can get, you won't know SQ until you put it to your ear. Those numbers are just the stock crossover point for the tweeters. 4 ohm is the impedance of the tweeter. An 8 ohm tweeter will have a 1250 hz xover point, and a 2ohm will have a 5000hz point. So you have to keep the impedance the same or risk killing the tweeter or missing some very important frequencies.

It does sound odd, out of all the SLC sets that I sold (approx 2yrs/several dozen) Ive never had any come back. Same with Contours,Profis,ProfiVans,etc...

I believe I have a few Older sets coming in of the Pros,Xtremes,Contours, and a few sets of CAL25ALKs. Mostly 4" sets, but the tweets with the Pro are the CAL25silk and the Xtremes contain the ALK.

Arc was the distributor for RAC, until RAC took a severly wrong turn and had Alumapro start distribution. HORRIBLE move imo. Also the ACS265 are manufactured by RAC and contain the CAL25Silk.

Arc's only affiliation with Rainbow is that RAC makes the ACS265's for them, and Arc was Rainbow's US distributor up to last year.

BTW how does one simultaneously blow both tweeters? Very odd...
i quite honestly don't know. i mean for my car i took out the stock tweets, and plugged in the slc tweets. they worked fine until a couple of days ago. i mean could it be an install problem? i mean i didn't find all too difficult to plug them into the leads. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

hmm never thought of going active. i dunno much about crossovers, what would be a good active crossover?
I have a 2-way Arc Audio active crossover you can use in conjuction with your amp's crossover. This will give you the flexibility to bandpass filter the mids while Highpassing your tweeters up to 6000hz on a 12db slope //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
