when the bass is hitting hard it makes my cd skip. on the back of my HU i have the rubber piece on the post which is going into the car's bracket support. i cant fit my hand in there in order to actually bolt the rear of my HU to the bracket. would this actually help, because my *** rumbles with the bass, so i assume the whole car is shaking. if i bolt the HU to the car's bracket, will i have the same problem? there is no dynamamt in my 93 escort, would adding some help, or is my sony HU prone to skipping?

I have the same problem on a heavy bass hit my HU skips as well. try pulling out the HU holding it in your hands and then Bumpheavy bass. If the CD doesn't skip, then the problem is your car rattling. if it does stillskip it is a power problem. most liekly its the rattling. thats wat it is with my 2000explorer. if i were u i would get some absorbing materialand outline the dash and inner unit with as much as u can with still making it fit u need to cut down vibrations... I used a thicksponge which helped but it still does it rarely. im about to buy some dynamator something else to reinforce it. HOW ANNOYING IS IT I cant stand it. Bringing it to a professional usually doesn't work beasue they just wanna takeall ur money and dynamat ur whole **** car. Peace GL

thanks for the suggestion, but i am already having a problem with my HU's amp over heating (driving mid's & hi's)and clipping when played loud for about 45 mins - which happens alot! maybe after i get a seperate 4 channel amp for the mid's & hi's i can dynamat without worrying too much about the heat.

sounds like you should think about gettin a new higher quality HU

Not uncommon with HU internal amps. There is not enough room for the internal amp to disperse the heat so loss of sound quality results. A 4 channel amp will cure this.
