Sitting Next to a subwoofer?

Ok as of right now my 13 W7 is in a box kinda behind the passenger seat, but not really because the seat doesnt go back hardly any and no one can sit in the seat because it is leaning so far forward. So i decided to take out my center seat, and build an enclosure for it in the place of the center seat. Are there any draw backs to the subwoofer being right next to you? As of now my windows have to be down to get really good bass response. I was just wondering if any one had expereinece with a large sub woofer (W7, XXX, or any sub along that line) in a single cab right next to you, also how does the XXX12 stack up against the 13W7?

Uhh, make sure you have some kickin mids and highs to keep up with the bass is all I would say. And I know what your talkin about because sometimes when I would be doin somethin in the back of the Hoe I would have music playin. Bass is a little more authoritative when it's 3ft away from your face.

It can work well, you just have to tune for it. And not only your substage, you have to actually pay attention to the whole spectrum if you want any type of balanced system. It can be done, and Im sure with the proper space it can sound very good, but you have to work. Don't get frustrated and lose your drive, just work with what you have, it can be done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

man i had the same problem i had 1 15inch fbx power accoustik in my 95 standard cab, so i took my passenger seat out to put it in lol then i found an easier way i had a 60/40 bench seat i cut out the middle part and built a box for 2 10s to serve as an armrest as well, i had the sub in the front firing towards me the driver and the other one firing against the passanger, i have pics of this and i will post it if you need some sort of an idea, it didn't look to great but it worked with small depth tens, for example i had 2 10inch PG octane Rs, now im tryin to figure out a way to get big bass into my truck

I never really liked how a sub sounded when it was that close to you... it sounds much better when its all the way in the back of the car in my opinion. I hate sitting in the back seat of my wagon

I've got 2 Polk MOMO mm2124 12's in my extended cab Ranger, and the only time it sounds good is with the window's down. The bass almost disappears with the windows up. You need more air volume in a truck for the bass to hit right, but I'm still convinced that the subs would hit alot harder in the trunk of a car.
