I just got sirius radio in my cherokee....i have an aftermarket unit with the antenna on my roof. I got it profesional installed and have tried to go threw different radio stations for better reception but it seems when im going threw different stations i can hear static....any way to help this?

Re-check all the connections, you probably have a loose wire somewhere...satellite reception is either off or on - you either are locked on the downlink or you're going to get nothing.

Also check that you have a clear line-of-sight to the sky...trees would lessen the signal strength.

also goes without saying that you did subscribe to the service //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Sounds like the wireless FM modulator is doing what wireless FM modulators do.

If the unit has a jack marked "FM out" you can get an antenna to boost the signal strength, or an adapter to let you make a direct connection at the antenna input to your head unit. Check with the Sirius unit's manufacturer.

Through. There //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

anyway...I would ditch the FM modulator and go directly into the AUX input on your head unit...why bother with satellite radio, if you're limited to FM quality audio anyway? That FM modulator is definitely the weak link in the system.

i got mine hooked straight to my headunit and it sounds nice, except going under overpasses //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/driving.gif.c4dead4599dda895032b63e51f52b126.gif

ok so your telling me i can hook it up threw my aux into my XM READY sony headunit? then where will the stations come threw? i've asked 2 different install shops and they say you can't run it threw a non-sirius headunit unless you have the module which doesnt come out for a few months. If there is a way to hook it up threw the aux do you then turn your headunit on to like video1 or something for it to play?

Newer Sonys can use the RCA input labelled "BUS" as an auxillary input. You can't control the satellite radio tuner through the head unit controls, but you can make a direct connection and improve the sound. You'll need a splitter that goes from a stereo mini plug to male RCA plugs. Connect the mini plug to the "audio out" jack on your satellite radio unit.
