Single vs Dual voice coil

I've settled on getting an Infinity Perfect 10vq for my sub fill. As I was looking to order the sub, the question popped into my head of why a dual voice coil is needed. So, what's the big deal of having a dual voice coil vs a single voice coil?

Nope. Nothing what so ever to do with performance. For production... sort of. Making one model sub that is, for example, dual 2ohm, would be like the manufacturer making two models, one being 1 ohm SVC and the other being 4ohm svc. So there is *some* argument for it making the manufacturer's life easier too. But in reality its mainly for flexibility for the customer.
