Single 12'' Type R, Ported? Sealed?

iam currently re-doing my install and needed some adice. I have a JBL 1200.1 pushing 2 12'' Type R's and i want to build 2 seperate boxes for each speaker so there on opposite sides of my hatch. i was thinking of just goin and puttin in a box wiht 1.5cu ft sealed, but more is better right?, couldnt I jsut build a 2cu Ft box and port it to 32-34hz? would that be a adequate box for a single type R? any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated
