Something in the 2.25-2.5ft^3 range with a low 30's tuning should work well from what I remember about them.

LOL not a big trunk.... the opening is what "REALLY" limits the space!! you will see..........

Depends on several things, including what your goals are for the setup, what kind of response curve you're wanting, and what kind of power you're working with.

I meant like if you want a big bump in output in the 40-50hz area, which you could do with a higher tuning like 37-38hz. Or if you want something more musical that can dig lower, without a noticable loudness difference between frequencies, which would be done with a lower tuning.

If you plan on using a 3000D on it, I'd go with a 2-2.25ft^3 box.

not sure about frequencies.... never really heard a box that was tuned to a specific freq. I would rather have spl than sound quality though

Also, would 3/4" MDF be sufficient or would 1" have any benefit?

Any ported box is tuned to a frequency. Sounds like 2.25ft^3 at 35hz would be good for you.
