single 10" Kicker CVR & LA1490 2 channel Amp

This should be a simple one:

I have a box with a single 2ohm 10" Kicker CVR and an LA1490 1600W (cough...ya right) 2 channel amp. I know the amp is 2ohm stable in stereo, not bridged right? So I guess the only way to use these together is to just run the sub off of one channel of the amp?...and just hook nothing up to the other channel, using 1/2 the potential of the amp. Is this the only/best way to do it with what i have? Thanks for any info and help!

I guess ur sayin I should get a more reasonable amp... I will keep my eyes open for something local but i'd like to get this hooked up for now atleast, if I can do so without frying anything...

I got this info and diagram from; http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/subs/?helpid=58

It looks like I should wire my sub like in this diagram, "1 DVC Driver Series".

It says, "When using a 4 Ohm Dual Voice Coil (DVC) subwoofer, the total impedance of this system is 8 Ohms. " and it showed this diagram. SO by this rational, If I wire my 2ohm sub this same way, than it will be a 4ohm impedance, right? So in this case I can run it bridged off my amp, right?

Or do you think I would be better to run 1 channel to each voice coil? (2 channel to 2 Voice Coils). My amp is only stable at 2ohms if in stereo, not bridged.

Ok well I am going to go hook up the amp to the deck and power now. Before I plug in the subs, I will come back hoping that someone has finally given me some info about my set up.

Do you ever get the feeling like you are talking to yourself in here...

you have a single vc driver that is 2 ohms that is the impedance of the subwoofer. Hook it up to one channel and you will do the rms at 2 ohms for that amp. look like 150rms. but it should move the sub some, just dont turn it up past the sub sounding clen so it hits harder, see the gain setting tutorial in the amp section.

No, I have a "Kicker CompVR 07CVR102 10" subwoofer with dual 2-ohm voice coils". Not a "single vc driver". If it were a single than I would have to set it up as you said. But since it has Dual Voice Coils, I beleive I have 2 options:

Option 1-hooking up 1 voice coil per channel (2 channels, 2 voice coils)

Option 2-Hook up the dual voice coils in "Series" as per the diagram. If i understand right, this will make it 4ohm, which means i could bridge the amp. I would prefer to do this if its correct, because the box currently only has 1 pos and 1 neg connections.

Am I right that both of these would work with my amp? Is there a better way to do this? Thanks for any input....

no sorry, in your fisrt post it reads "single 2ohm 10" Kicker CVR"

so yeah bridge your amp the both coils in series-( edit- too lat e at night) so you get a 4 ohm load. post all this info first thing next time. I saw the dvc post above but assumed that you only had a Svc due to the first post.

the polk graph is correct. sorry about the confusion, just trying to help not confuse you more.

thats ok, thanks anyways. the single referred to one sub, I don't have a pair... and i will be hooking it up in "Series" not parallel.
