the kid was a kook.
salvia probably did have something to do with it. i dont think it is to blame, but im sure if he was nuts it didnt help him out. i mean, the drug really can make you see things differently. your mind can really controll your experience, so if in his head he believed life was pointless, it probably became even more aparent to him after salvia.
but im sure there were other things in the kids life that made him upset. i smoke salvia regularly, and so do many people i know. in mild doses it acts as an anti depressant, and ive never heard of anyone becoming depressed off of it. The mom said she noticed him becoming depressed and blamed it on the salvia. how about looking at what was going on in his life at that time. maybe there was a reason he resorted to using drugs. recently i actually came out of a serious depression partly due to an experience i had with salvia. some people just need a scapegoat, and since not much is known about salvia, that was theirs.
i mean, you gotta face it, salvia is a mind altering serious droug. kids like that shouldnt be using it the same way irresponsible kids shouldnt drink alcohol, but that dosent mean it was the cause of his death. if a drug like alcohol is still legal then salvia shouldnt even be on a list of dangerous substances.
i guess what you should take away from this is that salvia IS NOTa recreational drug. you wouldnt take acid if you were depressed, and for the same reason salvia can be just as dangerous. but at the same time, the majorety of users arent kids who smoke it to feel high. there are online communities as large as this one dedicated to the spiritual side of salvia.
