im not sure how many of you know about Durangos, but yesterday i hooked up an amp and 2 12's to my 99 durango.....i contected the power to the hot end of the battery. I was trying to look for something that was only hot when the assesories were on...but i couldn't find anything to connect it to. The next morning when i went to start my truck it took a couple tries probably because it was drawing power from the battery all night....i can almost see everyone laughing at me....but does anyone have any ideas....does that even make sence to anyone? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

your amp should only turn on if the headunit sent the signal to the amp to turn itself on (remote turn on) if its wired correctly

when you shut off the car - make sure your radio shuts off too - maybe its not switched...

if it does turn off and your amp is still on... im guessing you attatchecd the remote turn on to a constant power source..?

the radio shuts off when i turn the truck off....i probably wired it wrong....i hook amp 12v slot thing directly to the battery....does that make sense....probably not //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif i should have brought it somewhere but i'm not one to do that i like to try things myself....should i have hooked that up differently?

usually its a blue wire... but on your amp you should see something like

remote... Rem... or something simlar ... another connection besides the ground/main power wire... for a smaller wire (you should know what im talking about)

that should not goto the battery... it should be hooked up to the headunit... if that wire is getting poweroff the battery constantly... its telling the amp to turn on - hence your problem

if wired correctly to the headunit.. the headunit will send a 12v signal when its turned on.. to turn on the amp.. and shut it off when its shutoff...

yeah the remote is plugged into the remote on the head unit....i just checked it....i turned the truck on and kept the head unit off....and the amp light was off....when i turned the head unit on...the light came on....idk maybe the alternator is on it's way out and couldn't charge the battery because the system was drawing so much from it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif........any other ideas...of what i could have done wrong....or should i bring it somewhere.

can you take pictures of your install?
that would help alot

....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/escape.gif.52b661afb17bde1db0e0c7da97e75b38.gif.....i can't right now but i will post up after work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

did you run the radio for awhile while the car was off? i drained my battery a couple times this way lol

or maybe you just left your headlights on? =P
