SIMPLE Question (Ohms)

I'm already thinking I know the answer.. in any case I'm looking for the reason why my speakers cut out on me, I just installed an amp for my components and was testing everything.. my speakers were responding but when I turned the volume on the HU up a little they went off..

Okay, I set my gains real low, but I only had my left side speakers hooked because I wasn't sure which wire on the right side crossover was for my tweeter... so could it be because I only had half my speakers hooked up that they cut out on any volume?

could be a couple of things. BUt hokking up only one side of speakers will not cause theamp to cut out. Now a little more info could help. does the amp have a protoect light on it? if it does whaen the amp cuts out does that light turn on? or does the amp just completly shut off?

The two most common problems to cause this would be a bad speaker or low voltage to the amp.
